Austrian Society for ME/CFS (CFS – Help)
The
Austrian Society for ME/CFS
(CFS – Hilfe) is an Austrian-wide contact point for people suffering from ME/CFS (Chronic Exhaustion Syndrome).
ME/CFS is a
severe chronic multisystem disease
with massive effects on the lives of those affected. Affected persons suffer from severe, persistent states of exhaustion and weakness, immediate or delayed deterioration of the condition after stress, sleep disturbances, cognitive and neurological impairments, orthostatic intolerance, flu-like symptoms, muscle and joint pain, etc.m.
Although ME/CFS has long been recognized as a serious, stressful, chronic, neuroimmunological multisystem disease (WHO classification G93.3), the disease is still hardly recognized and often misunderstood in Austria.
Many sufferers have to accept losses in areas of their lives as a result of the restrictions. Due to ignorance and stigma, they are often exposed to years of grueling medical and social situations. False, often damaging, treatments and fundamental violations of human rights are constantly being reported.
That is why we are working with deep conviction that ME/CFS sufferers get the help and support they need.
